FRIDAY 20 JULY 2007 - Posted by Spooky

After a few months of downtime I am pleased to report that this site is now back up and running again - apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Here is something I had not expected to find after all this time - a new GW3 movie on YouTube of all places - it looks rather nice!

Spooky has completed his second tool for Dawn of War - his .RSH Texture Viewer/Extractor allows you to view and extract the .RSH files found in the game. More information can be found here, and the tool can be downloaded from our new Dawn of War tools section.

After a break Crook has returned to work on his high-poly Millenium Falcon, which is now nearly finished! You can read more about this model here, and there are some pictures below:

Since our last update Spooky and Crook have both been busy developing modding tools. Spooky has just released version 2.0.0 of his Relic Archive tool, the new version of which can extract the contents of the .sga files found in the new Warhammer 40,000 based RTS game, Dawn of War. Although the full version of Dawn of War has not yet been released, this tool also allows you to open the files found in the demo version! Further information can be found here and the tool can be downloaded from our tools section.

Crook has produced two very useful tools for modding Half Life. BSP WAD Texture Inserter enables you to insert single textures from a WAD texture file back into a a BSP map, and the Startup Screen Converter allows you to produce startup splash screens.

CnlPepper has finished his outstanding game model of the EA Omega and has kindly given us permission to use it in Homeworld 2. There are some images of it below, and you can find more information in this thread in our forums.

Meurig from Homeworld: Farscape has also just finished an excellent high-poly model of the huge EA Explorer. If you'd like to discuss this model or see more pictures, have a look at this thread.

Our mods have received some very positive coverage in the September edition of PC Gamer (UK). The article is in a section discussing successful modding projects and has some nice things to say about us:

"The four Great Wars mods captured some of the bitter conflicts and awe-inspiring weaponry from the TV series. They showed just what can be done with the original Homeworld toybox and they're now a benchmark for what can be achieved with the sequel."

In other news Crook has been working on new Nial, Lintari, and Victory models, more details on which can be found in this thread. CnlPepper has also made a very welcome return to the modding scene with his Omega Class Destroyer.

Crook's Thunderbolt is now in-game and looking very nice!

SUNDAY 1 JULY 2004 - Posted by Thursday's Child

Crook has been busy working on his Thunderbolt model, and although it isn't quite finished here are the latest pictures:

SUNDAY 27 JUNE 2004 - Posted by Thursday's Child

Crook has added some excellent Starfury variants to our Homeworld 2 mod. There are some pictures below, and you can follow developments in this thread in our forums.

Crook has also been working on a very nice model of the Thunderbolt, which he then plans to use as reference to make a new low-poly version for Homeworld 2. There are more details in here.

TGU's webspace is sadly still down but we've put up alternative links to the majority of our files, apart from the Homeworld tools page which I'm currently repairing. I'm also putting together a documents and tutorials section for the site.

Homeworld 2: Babylon 5!

We're pleased to announce the start of our new project, the Babylon 5 total conversion for Homeworld 2, which we hope will eventually recreate the B5 universe to an extent never possible in the original Homeworld. The website is being redesigned to reflect the changes, and you can keep updated in our forum or in this thread at RelicNews.

As of the time of writing, our files at the Gaming Union are still down and there's no news on when they will be restored. We're setting up mirrors to all our downloads so that this won't happen again.

THURSDAY 29 APRIL 2004 - Posted by Thursday's Child

The Gaming Union, the website which hosts our files, is currently down as a result of some server problems. Hopefully everything will be back to normal in a few days but this means that our forum and downloads are currently out of action.

FRIDAY 16 APRIL 2004 - Posted by Thursday's Child

Crook has released his Starfury for Homeworld 2! This model is just an experiment, and replaces the hig_interceptor. Hopefully the first of many more to come. Extract the file to your homeworld 2 folder, and use a shortcut with -overridebigfile to make it work.

THURSDAY 15 APRIL 2004 - Posted by Thursday's Child

We've finally got some news about Homeworld 2! Crook has been experimenting with putting our existing models into the game, and has so far released pictures of the Starfury and the Narn G'Quan. More detail about what he's been doing can be found in this thread in our forums, and this thread over at RelicNews. The font in the last screenshot was changed with Crook's Homeworld 2 Font Editor.
